Middle Earth Tours

Thursday 23 July

We’ve organised a “Middle-Earth Journey” on Thursday 23 July for those of you who may be interested in touring film locations from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Highlights include Rivendell, where Frodo recovered from his knife attack; the Anduin River where the Fellowship voyaged to Amon Hen; and the Gardens of Isengard among many others! This is a great way to start your networking early and meet your peers before the conference starts. These tours will be offered by Flat Earth New Zealand Experiences so please visit their website to learn more - http://www.flatearth.co.nz/. To sign up for tours, email conferences@air.asn.au.

Exhibition Welcome – TSB Bank Arena – Exhibition Hall

Friday 24 July

After proving so successful in previous ASMMIRT conferences, we will be holding an exhibition welcome cocktail function on Friday evening of day 1 of the conference. This has been scheduled to optimise delegate numbers at this event. This is the perfect chance to catch up with conference attendees in a relaxed social environment after the first day's technical sessions have come to a close.

After the close of this two-hour function the evening is free for conference attendees, and provides the perfect opportunity for you to head out to dinner at the nearby restaurants and bars of Wellington. This is the perfect time to discover exactly why Wellington it deserves its title as 'The coolest little capital in the world', and has been rated as the 4th top city to visit by Lonely Planet.

TE PAPA Gala Dinner

Gala Dinner - TE PAPA

Saturday 25 July

The 2015 NZIMRT-AIR Scientific Meeting will host a Saturday night Gala Dinner at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the iconic national museum.

'Te Papa Tongarewa' translates to mean 'container of treasures' - and with hundreds of people expected at this Gala Dinner, this certainly rings true! Explore the main exhibitions capturing the greatest treasures and stories of New Zealand - its unique natural environment, Maori culture, art heritage, and fascinating history.

This is the premier night on the social calendar for both NZIMRT and AIR members; colleagues and friends will join together for a night of celebration, and to showcase those dance moves!

Both events will provide the perfect backdrop to catch up with old friends and be introduced to new contacts in the industry.

Please note the dress code for the Gala Dinner is formal.
