Cloudy with a Ray of Sunshine: Shining a Light on the Changing Learning Landscape

Qualified as a Therapy Radiographer, David moved into education where he helped to design the first undergraduate radiotherapy course at SHU. He has led development of a clinical portfolio and clinical assessment scheme, and pioneered the use of the PebblePad ePortfolio, now available throughout SHU.  

David has been Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography (1993 - 2001), MSc Radiotherapy & Oncology (2001-2009), and spearheaded the introduction of distance learning in 2005.

In 2006 along with Angela Eddy, David conceived and developed the CPD AnywhereTM framework, and as a Teaching Fellow (Distance Learning) since 2007, David has been supporting, enabling and delivering online courses in a range of contexts.

Co-founder and a past Editor-in-Chief of the international, peer-reviewed Journal of Radiotherapy in Practice, David will be presenting on the changing learning landscape.

Nigel Latta is a trained Clinical Psychologist who has worked for the last two decades in a number of agencies including Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation, Sex Offender Treatment Programmes, Family Therapy agencies, Child Youth and Family, Probation Services, and extensively in private practice.

Nigel is a widely-published author and TV presenter, including presenting the critically acclaimed television series “Beyond the Darklands”, which was based on his work as a forensic psychologist, and the “Politically Incorrect Guide to…” Series which has screened on TV in New Zealand and Australia.

Future of Health - Cloud-based Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and More

Paul Higgins is a Futurist with Emergent Futures. He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Veterinary Science, a Bachelor of Animal Science (Research) and a Masters Degree in Strategic Foresight.

Paul has been a dairy cattle veterinarian, an abattoir manager, a pork farmer, and an agribusiness consultant before becoming a futurist with Emergent Futures. He has also been involved in politics and agri-politics.

Paul is a graduate of the Leadership Victoria Program and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a guest lecturer at Victoria University on the disruptive effects of web technologies and a technology editor on Tumblr. Paul is a partner at Social Ventures Partners International and a member of the investment committee in Melbourne. Paul writes and presents regularly on future disruptions to business models, and consults to a range of organisations on how to think about the future.

The New Radiography: Coming out from Behind the Cloud
How can radiographers mitigate diagnostic errors in the emergency department? 

Michael Fuller is Radiography Clinical Educator at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide. He graduated in 1981 from the Sturt College of Advanced Education and completed a Bachelor of Health Administration in 1990. Michael has worked in Adelaide and London, and as a Consultant Radiographer to AusAID’s MONAHP project in Papua New Guinea. In recognition of his endeavours, Michael was awarded the Allen Braden Medal in 2004 and he is a past recipient of the AIR International Travel Scholarship. His professional interests include image interpretation, trauma radiography, and radiography education. 

Michael will be making two presentations; the first on "The New Radiography - Coming out from behind the Cloud", characterising the evolution of the profession into a 'progressive and optimistic' field; and the second on "How can radiographers mitigate diagnostic errors in the emergency department?"
